Band sure to give you Bon appetite

The Bon Scotts.
The Bon Scotts.

THEY have nothing to do with AC/DC.

The name is a quirky mystery - just like this absolute gem of a band.

The Melbourne seven piece are hitting the road to celebrate the release of double A-side 'Let's Do What The Catholics Do | Here Comes Summer'.

The Bon Scotts are like a memory of something you heard before, ever so slightly, but then a new element - a background of pop accordion; shouted choruses; snappy horn section - reminds you this is most definitely new.

Its lead singer Robert Zimmerman's vocals that give the tunes a nostalgic glow.

He has a strangely sexy Robert Smith (The Cure) thing going on, with a slightly sarcastic, occasionally bleeding heart, always engaging style of delivery.

The Bon Scotts have some finely crafted pop songs with interesting lyrics - sex, polaroids, computer generated images.

Check them out at bonscotts.com, and get out your skinny tie for the gig at the Valla Beach Tavern, March 23.
