BOOK: Old-Timers

AUTHOR: Sandy Thorne

PUBLISHER: Allen & Unwin Aust

RRP: $29.99

SANDY Thorne has always loved listening to and being with "oldies".

This she proves in her book where 20 different people describe to her their varied, unorthodox and intriguing lives.

In her introduction she has written a poem which she dedicates to all of Australia's elders.

Mary Barry, MBE, a publican from Dalby; Sheila Ross, an intelligence agent; Ron Canlin, an opal miner and sculptor; Des Morrison, a dedicated soldier and POW survivor Sid Martin are some of the curious characters who will enchant you with their vitality, resourcefulness and trailblazing.

This is a highly entertaining compilation.
