Volleyballers bring home gold
PROVING they are hard to beat, the boys volleyball team from Browns Plains High School have come away with the gold medal at the recent Metropolitan Volleyball Finals after cruising through the competition undefeated.
The Year 9 boys' team secured the top spot after defeating their biggest rival, Craigslea State High from Chermside, two sets to zero.
Browns Plains State High School volleyball coordinator Angela King said the whole community was proud of the team.
"They were undefeated and didn't lose a set for the whole competition," Ms King said.
"They are a very determined and hardworking team of boys.
"We are very excited and proud of them."
This is the second gold medal the boys have received, after also placing first at last year's finals.
Ms King now believes the boys have what it takes to win gold at both the state and national titles, after placing second at the Queensland Volleyball Schools Cup and seventh at the Australian titles.
"They are our most successful boys team so far," she said.
"They are training really hard to better that result this year."
