FIFO gives airline a huge boost

A REGIONAL airline supplying the growing fly-in, fly-out mining industry has posted a huge 44% revenue increase, partly due to its Central Queensland operations.

Alliance Aviation operates charter flights for iron ore mines in the Pilbara and the CQ coal industry, among other remote mines around the country.

On Monday, it reported its full year results, including a 44% jump from last year's revenue of $127.6 million to $184.2 million.

The airline services resource projects through flights to and from Emerald, Brisbane, Townsville, Mt Isa, Cloncurry and various other projects.

Alliance managing director Scott McMillan said after listing on the stock exchange in December, the company had a "successful year", partly on the back of high staff recruitment and retention rates.
