FWA rejects interference claim
ALLEGATIONS made by embattled MP Craig Thomson against two members of Fair Work Australia were rejected on Monday.
Senior staff and the president of the workplace relations regulator appeared before an estimates hearing in Canberra today.
The FWA published a report outlining findings of its investigation into Mr Thomson's conduct when he was national secretary of the Health Services Union.
In a statement to parliament, Mr Thomson last week accused FWA vice-president Michael Lawler and lead investigator Terry Nassios of bias.
In answer to Liberal Senator Eric Abetz's inquiry about the validity of Mr Thomson's allegations, the FWA said they believed there was no basis for such allegations.
FWA acting director Ailsa Carruthers told the hearing that she was not aware of any interference by Mr Lawler in the investigation.
She also said she had no reason to believe that Mr Nassios had exercised any bias in relation to the investigation into Mr Thomson or the Health Services Union.
