JOHN Paul College's boys soccer team have upped their anti in preparation for this year's Bill Turner Cup competition in Newcastle next month.
Being the only Queensland team in the competition, the boys will head down south to compete against the best school soccer teams in Australia.
The boys secured their spot by beating Toowoomba Grammar two goals to one.
Having won the competition in 2004 and 2005, team manager Matthew Crameri was confident his boys could come home with the trophy again.
"We are feeling very prepared," Mr Crameri said.
"We have only got a very young squad, so the boys have done a great effort to get this far.
"The boys always train very hard.
"Their training varies because many of the boys play club football, but we normally train twice a week.
"Some of them who are involved in our football academy can train up to five days a week."
The boys will fight for first place in the Bill Turner Cup on Wednesday, September 5.
