Model's dreams become reality

LIKE many young girls, Emily Phillips has always dreamed of becoming a model.

Now the teenager's dream may become a reality after she was selected to proceed to the next round of the Girlfriend Rimmel Model of the Year competition for 2012.

Miss Phillips, of Boronia Heights, will meet with the competition judges at Chermside Shopping Centre later this month.

If successful in the state titles, Miss Phillips will then be in the running to win the major prize of a two-year contract with Chic Management and Next Model Management in New York, an all expenses paid trip to Sydney to appear in two fashion shoots for Girlfriend magazine and a year's supply of Rimmel London products.

The 16-year-old said she was shocked to find out she had been preselected to go to the next stage of the competition.

"I was really excited but didn't think it was really happening," Miss Phillips said.

"I had to keep asking if this was real or not because I had entered the competition earlier on in the year and had forgotten all about it.

"So it was a very nice surprise."

Miss Phillips, who dreams of walking the cat walk for some of the biggest fashion names in the world, said the winner would get to be the face of Girlfriend magazine for the year.

"I think the coolest thing about winning would be the fact that I could say I was the face of Girlfriend when I'm older," she said.

"I really want to continue on with modelling when I'm older if I can because I have always wanted to be a famous model.

"The models always look really happy."

Miss Phillips will meet the judges at Chermside Shopping Centre on Saturday, June 16.
