SIX new police recruits will be joining the force in Logan as part of the State Government's promise to add an extra 100 officers to the area in the next four years.

Minister for Police and Community Safety Jack Dempsey visited Jimboomba Police Station last week to talk to officers about how the new recruits would benefit the city.

"We have made that commitment for an extra 100 officers for the region," Mr Dempsey said.

"We have got to make sure, especially here that we meet community expectations.

"The electorates said it loud and clear."

Local member for Logan Michael Pucci welcomed the news of new officers for the city.

"These new recruits are a much needed resource for the local community and I want to warmly welcome them," Mr Pucci said.

"I know the residents of Logan will also welcome these additional police into the area.

"I am part of a government that is focused on better front line services for communities like ours."

The police will begin working immediately to tackle the issues facing the community, including law and order.
