INSPIRATIONAL Logan Thunder captain Kristen Veal says she won't be giving up her day job despite sizzling in front of the camera during a steamy photo shoot for charity.
Known for her explosive skills on the basketball court, the point guard is among a host of qualified full-time female firefighters to feature in the sexy new calendar, which is in aid of breast cancer.
Veal, who recently helped the Australian Opals women's basketball side complete a 3-0 series whitewash over China, said she was afraid to tell her team-mates about the raunchy photos.
“My team-mates haven't seen it,” she admitted.
“It's going to be a shock for all of them.
“They're not used to seeing me in anything other than trackies, playing singlets and my hair pulled back.
“It will be interesting when they see it.”
While she feels a career in modelling wasn't on the cards, the 30-year-old Brisbane-based firefighter said it was a good experience stepping out of her comfort zone.
“It was nerve racking,” she said.
“I'm not used to seeing myself with make up on and long hair.
“It was a good experience and it makes you respect that industry a lot more.”
It's not the first time Veal has changed her look for charity, having previously shaved her head for the Leukaemia Foundation.
“At every point, whether it's uncomfortable or fun, you suck it up because it's for charity,” she said.
The 2012 Female Firefighters Calendar is $10 and can be purchased at this year's EKKA, which starts tomorrow (Thursday), or online at www.femalefirefighters.com.au
