Visitors happy with hospital upgrades
CONSTRUCTION has started on the new emergency building and possible multi-level car park at Logan Hospital.
Currently, the hospital have divided the car park up into three different sections - one section for short term parking, one for long term parking and one for staff who work the night shift.
Logan Hospital project coordinator Sue Macpherson said the changes were necessary to complete much needed upgrade works.
"We need this early work package to start re-routing and putting in new sewage pipes and drainage for the new building," Ms Macpherson said.
"But we are also looking at the possibility of putting in a new multi-level car park for our visitors, which has been on the agenda for a few years.
"But to do that, we need to first drill down into the soil to see if it can hold the weight of a new carpark before we can start laying the foundations."
Despite some car park spaces being lost, Logan Hospital visitor Dagoberto Perdomo said he was impressed with the current parking arrangements.
"I had a specialist appointment here at the hospital, but I just drove into the short term parking area and I was able to get a park straight away," he said.
"Before, it was always very hard to get a park.
"But I think putting in a new multi-level car park will make parking much easier for everyone at the Logan Hospital.
"I think it is great they are doing the upgrades."
