LAST Monday saw Education and Training Minister, Geoff Wilson, tour the facilities at Logan TAFE Community Child Care Centre in Meadowbrook.
The centre, which has a culturally diverse range of staff and looks after a large number of children from migrant families, prepared a multicultural afternoon tea for the Minister to enjoy during his visit.
“It (the centre) really is a snapshot of the world with families from India, Mauritius, Tonga, United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Somalia, Jordan, Pakistan and China currently using the centre,” Mr Wilson said.
Mr Wilson said he was impressed with the centre and said it was a story well worth telling.
“Especially the fact they meet the needs of the multicultural community,” he said.
“I'm a new Minister to my portfolio, every site I go to I get an education.
“This is where we can make a very big impact on early childhood education.”
Member for Waterford, Evan Moorhead, said the Logan TAFE Community Child Care opened in 1992 to provide high quality child care for the children of TAFE students and a learning environment to support the practical needs of early childhood students.
