BIOSECURITY Queensland is reminding all businesses and residents in the Logan area to comply with fire ant movement restrictions and to check their yards for the tiny, yet vicious fire ant.

Biosecurity Queensland Control Centre director, Neil O’Brien, issued the reminder after seven major infringements of fire ant soil movement restrictions were investigated in the past six months.

“With clusters of fire ants recently found at Holmview, Logan Reserve, Browns Plains, Regents Park, Park Ridge, Kuraby, Underwood, Waterford West, Munruben and Greenbank, now is the time for businesses and residents to ensure they are not accidentally spreading fire ants,” he said.

To report suspect ants or for more information, contact the Biosecurity Queensland Control Centre on 13 25 23.
