Rovers win, Lions not so fortunate

ROCHEDALE Rovers will aim to start the 2010 Veto Premier League season with a hat-trick of wins when they face Pine Rivers this Sunday after annihilating Mt Gravatt 5-1 away from home on Saturday night.

Rovers new striker, Steve Unsworth tamed the slippery Dittmer Park surface and in the process proved his value to his new team by bagging three goals.

The Rovers marksman scored two of his goals in the first 45 minutes to help propel his team to a comfortable 3-1 lead at the break.

The 29-year-old completed his trifecta early in the second half to put the result beyond reach, but for assurance Carl Tabulo got on the score sheet late in the game.

Evergreen midfielder, Cody Lovell was dangerous all night and helped set up Unsworth’s second goal with a perfectly timed cross.

Meanwhile on Friday night, Beenleigh blew a two-goal half-time lead to draw 3-all with Brisbane Wolves at Chris Green Park, Beenleigh.

After a sluggish first 20 minutes, the Lions kicked into gear to find the back of net on three occasions through, Ben Harrison, Juso Julardzija and Michael Osler.

The hosts went into the break leading 3-1, but had their lead reeled back and in the end were forced to share the points with the Wolves.
