DON’T be alarmed if you see a swarm of Logan emergency services personnel at the Logan Hyperdome on Thursday night.
A group of volunteers from Logan SES, Emergency Services Queensland, Queensland Ambulance Service, Queensland Police, Queensland Fire and Rescue Service and Rural Fire Service are putting their hair on the line for the Leukaemia Foundation’s annual World’s Greatest Shave.
Logan’s Heroes, as they’ve been called, will take to the stage at 6pm and they are urging local residents to come down and get involved.
“They can just come down and get their head shaved or a colour,” organiser, Brett McDonaugh said.
Logan’s Heroes were formed after Mr McDonaugh’s daughter, Amy, was diagnosed with Leukaemia in 2008.
Now on the way to recovery, Mr McDonaugh is urging others to join the fight, and to help them beat last year’s fundraising total of $21,000.
After being named as one of the top 30 fundraisers in the state last year, CEO of the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland, Peter Johnstone, thanked members of the Logan’s Heroes team for their willingness to chop and colour their locks for the cause.
“The Logan’s Heroes team well and truly lived up to its name last year with the tremendous funds they raised for the leukaemia cause,” he said.
“By generously putting their hair on the line once again this year, I have no doubt that each member of the team will be a hero in the eyes of the many patients and families the Foundation cares for each day, who will benefit from the funds raised.
