Donnelly reaches Youth Olympics gold medal match
THE Australian Women's Youth 3-on-3 basketball team, which boasts Daisy Hill's Mikhaela Donnelly, advanced to the Gold Medal game at the 2010 Youth Olympics in Singapore, following an awe-inspiring two-point overtime victory over United States on Monday.
Team USA were one of the tournament favourites, waltzing through their pool and quarter final match-up untested. But the Australians have been building confidence with each passing victory, and following a narrow three-point win in the semi-finals over Brazil, the prospect of a semi-final upset was on the cards.
The gold medal game between Australia and China was played late on Monday, past The Reporter's deadline.
