THREE local sports and recreation clubs in the Logan region will now provide training courses in first aid and coaching accreditation to their volunteers, referees and coaches after receiving nearly $12,000 in Queensland Government grants.
State Member for Waterford, Evan Moorhead said the Sport and Recreation Active Inclusion program grants awarded to the Beenleigh-Logan Cricket Association Inc ($5000), Beenleigh Australian Rules Football Club ($2376) and Logan Cobras Junior AFL ($4274), would enhance the club's training and education programs.
“These programs will also help to recruit and retain volunteers and enable these clubs to hold open ‘come and try' days to boost membership.
Mr Moorhead said the local community thrives through participation at local sport and recreation clubs, and that's why they are supporting them to be as successful and inclusive as they can be.
Sport Minister, Phil Reeves, who announced the new suite of sport and recreation funding programs earlier this year, said the programs were designed to increase participation, recruit volunteers, and encourage disadvantaged communities to participate in sport and recreation.
