Devils pluck Magpies' feathers

SOUTHS Logan will need to beat Northern Pride this Sunday to book a spot in this year's Intrust Super Cup grand final after Norths Devils scored a thrilling 20-16 win over the Magpies at Davies Park on Sunday.

Former Magpies winger, Jack Reed, came back to haunt his old side, scoring the match-winning try for the Devils in the 78th minute of the epic semi-final.

The Magpies paid the price for their slow start with the Devils holding a 10-0 lead after 20 minutes.

The home side registered its first points through Nick Skinner, who split the Devils wide open to score under the posts in the shadow of half-time.

The match between the competition's top two teams appeared to be headed for extra time after Magpies halfback Mick Picker converted Quentin Laulu-Togagae's try to lock proceedings up at 16-all in the 70th minute.

The Mark Beaumont-led Magpies will rue several good opportunities to win, as the Devils' Reed snatched victory from under the Magpies' nose.
