Lindsay Parlane is asking 'where's my footpath?'

BORONIA Heights resident Lindsay Parlane (pictured) feels like he is walking on the path of success.

After asking for a footpath on the corner of Wineglass Drive and Middle Road for six years, it looks like his request is finally going to come to pass.

State Member for Algester, Karen Struthers, said Queensland Health had informed her that the path should be completed by the end of October.

It was a development requirement that Queensland Health put in the footpath when the new Browns Plains Heath Centre opened on the corner in December last year.

“The footpath will be along the entire frontage on Middle Road and turning up Wineglass Avenue to connect to earlier footpath works,” Ms Struthers said.

“This involves some additional retaining works to ensure compliance with disabled access requirements.

“The works will be concurrent with traffic lights being installed at the pedestrian crossing by Roadtek.”

On top of this, a Logan City Council spokeswoman said Operational Works approval for the road works and pedestrian works was granted on August 5.

“It is now in the hands of the State Government (the applicants) to ensure the delivery of the intersections and pedestrian pathway upgrades,” she said.

Mr Parlane said he was “extremely happy” the footpath was going ahead.

“It's absolutely fabulous but it's about bloody time,” he said.

And as soon as it was done he said he would be there riding his bike, and taking his son to school at St Bernardine's.
