MEMBER for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie has called on the State Government to apply for a stay on a Queensland Parole Board decision to release "vampire killer" Travey Wigginton.

The Shadow Attorney-General said the Queensland community would be outraged at the Christmas eve release of the Wigginton whose 1989 murder of a Brisbane council worker to drink his blood horrified the nation and the world.

"Why now, on the eve of Christmas is the Bligh Labor government condoning the release of this vicious killer," Mr Bleijie said.

"Surely the Attorney-General should appeal the decision.

"This is a person who murdered a 47 year-old council worker after luring him to a park in Brisbane's West End where she stabbed him 27 times and then drank his blood."

Mr Bleijie said since being jailed, Wigginton has been "far from a model prisoner", moved back into high-security in 2006 after allegedly assaulting a prison guard and another prisoner.

"What guarantees are Paul Lucas and Anna Bligh offering that this person will not re-offend," Mr Bleijie said.

"Hers was a most heinous crime and the Queensland community needs absolute certainty that she will not re-offend."

Attorney-General Paul Lucas said he was seeking Crown Law advice on the matter.

"This person has served 21 years for this horrendous crime," he said.
