IF YOU have holidays coming up here are some tips to help you enjoy not only your trip but to also help you to not gain weight whilst away.
Holidays are so much fun, but with the good can come the bad.
If you have been focused on losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle going on holidays won't change this, as long as you are careful.
By the time we reach our holiday destination most of us feel worn out and are looking to relax and have a good time.
With this can come the attitude that means relaxing our eating regime and the attitude that says "I'm on holidays so I deserve to have a few treats".
Holidays are meant to be fun and I don't believe that you have to be a martyr but there are some things you can do so you don't gain massive amounts of weight while you are away.
Before I lost my weight I remember one holiday in particular where I gained 5 kilos.
It seemed such a good idea at the time to indulge, but once home it was very depressing when I realised what I had done.
If you want to avoid this happening to you then can I suggest that you take your healthy eating with you on your next trip.
Firstly start the day right with a normal breakfast, don't fill up on fried eggs and bacon but have what you normally have at home.
Then at lunch time, try and have sandwiches, soup or salads or similar lunches to what you normally have at home, then for dinner allow yourself to have what ever you like.
Or you can reverse this strategy with lunch and dinner, depending on when you like to have your main meal of the day.
I find when I am away that I am happy to not overdo it during the day as we are always busy, but it is nice to look forward to the evening meal.
Pick a different restaurant each night and enjoy the fresh seafood, grilled steaks and order that special dessert, hey you're on holidays so enjoy yourself in moderation.
Remember holidays aren't about having "all you can eat", but more about enjoying the trip, relaxing, having time with your loved ones and rewarding yourself in other ways.
