GROUPS of litter hunters will soon scour Logan's streets and parks searching for rubbish as part of next month's Clean Up Australia Day.

Springwood Pathfinders Club is one of dozens of community organisations, business or school groups across Logan who have already registered for the annual nationwide event.

Group coordinator Damion Lipman, 38, said his team were ready to roll up their sleeves, slap on a set of gloves and spend a couple of hours cleaning up a park at Shailer Park.

"We encourage teenagers to especially be involved and it's a great activity for them and a chance for them to engage in something the community is involved in," the Logan Reserve father-of-two said.

This is the third year the club, which offers activity-based learning programs for youth, has put up their hand to take part in Clean Up Australia Day.

Mr Lipman said the group chose the same site as last year to focus their cleaning efforts on as the park was well-utilised by families and kids and is adjacent to sporting fields.

While Clean Up Australia Day was a great opportunity for people to exercise their local community spirit, Mr Lipman hoped the event would inspire others to care more about the way their parks and streets looked.

"It's important the city is kept clean and safe and I hope it (cleaning up) becomes a habit for people to not just rely on one day to keep their local community clean but all year round," he said.

Mr Lipman expected 30 to 40 people to turn up on Sunday, March 4, at the park located at the end of Cliff Ct, Shailer Park, but said it wasn't too late for others to register to lend their support.
