Fun for the kids and big ones
The Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival is unique. A premier central Victorian Spring celebration, with its symbolic daffodils heralding new growth and sunshine across the region and the state, it is unparalleled in its breadth and range. It has something for everyone over its eleven days and is held all over town.
For the first two weeks in September the festival involves the whole community and many visitors from all over Victoria in an exciting array of arts, crafts, gardens, flower shows, markets and hospitality.
Apart from the beautiful daffodils that saturate the town and its surrounds, attractions include the Festival of One Act Plays, the Antique Fair, ferret racing, buskers and scarecrows, the Alpaca Fiesta, a fun run, a variety spectacular featuring many local and renowned artists and other performance and literary events.
Many local gardens will be open to garden lovers and the flower show presents a variety of stunning daffodils, the signature of the festival.
The Festival joyfully reflects the town's and district's Golden Heritage. The Daffodil Old Time Ball will enter into the heritage spirit.
Exhibitions at local galleries and venues display the work of local artists who regularly share their skills with onlookers. Visitors can take in the Kyneton Art Group's annual show, make their own judgement on the entries to the Daffodil Art Prize and the Youth Art Awards and admire vivid photography reflecting the Spirit of Kyneton.
Guided and self-guided Golden Heritage walks will showcase Kyneton's historic buildings.
People take part in the Grand Parade on the last day of the Festival with bands, dancers, floats, cars and vintage vehicles. The Festival ends with a fair, performances and rides in Kyneton's main streets.
And while you're there, all of Kyneton's legendary and award-winning culinary establishments will be ready to provide sustenance.
