CITY BOOM: Where to find a job in Toowoomba right now

THE hospitality, retail and warehousing sectors are some of the industries needing more workers in Toowoomba right now.

That's according to employment agency Classic Recruitment, on the back of news that more than 1400 full-time jobs were created in the Toowoomba region in the last six months.

Company director Joy Mingay said she noticed job surges in five industries, including retail, transport and logistics, warehousing, hospitality, and health and communities.

"Hospitality (needs jobs) particularly, because it's very hard to find chefs and senior staff," she said.

"Everyone I talk to faces that - good chefs are hard to come by.

"Anyone in stores and warehousing logistics needs more staff, and I know Nexus are looking for blue-collar drivers and excavator operators.

"Some of the resource sector is coming back with warehousing, so parents should make sure their children get a forklift licence."

Toowoomba's unemployment rate for the December quarter is just 4.33%, one of the lowest in Queensland.

More than 3400 people were considered unemployed based on figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
