UPDATE 9.30am: THE 18-year-old woman who survived a shocking single vehicle crash in Port Wine yesterday is in a stable condition in the Rockhampton Hospital.

A second woman, the passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

UPDATE: A WOMAN has died following a single vehicle traffic crash at Port Wine, between Emerald and Barcaldine yesterday afternoon.

Initial information suggests around 3.40pm a car was travelling west on the Capricorn Highway when it left the road and rolled.

A passenger in the car, a 19-year-old Longreach woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The car's driver, an 18-year-old New South Wales woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to Rockhampton Hospital for treatment.

The Capricorn Highway was closed for a period of time but has since reopened.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

UPDATE 8pm: A SPOKESPERSON from the Queensland Ambulance Service said the person airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital tonight following a horror single-vehicle accident had sustained a head injury.

Further clinical details were not available.

The crash took the life of one person, after a vehicle fell down a 6m embankment on the Capricorn Highway between Emerald and Alpha.

Emergency Services responded around 3.30pm, with the RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Service leaving the scene around 6.45pm.

The road was closed for some time.

UPDATE 6.45pm: THE RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service have just left the scene of a fatal accident on the Capricorn Highway, with one patient on board.

The chopper is on its way to the Rockhampton Hospital.

The condition of the person is currently unknown.

The road is closed.

UPDATE: ONE has been killed and one "severely" entrapped following an accident on the Capricorn Highway this afternoon.

Emergency Services attended the scene of a single vehicle roll-over around 3.30pm, where a car fell 6m down an embankment.

The RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service are attending the scene.

INITIAL: A SPOKESPERSON from the Queensland Police Service have confirmed they are attending a serious crash on the Capricorn Highway.

The accident occurred around 3.30pm on the Alpha side of the Drummond Range.

Initial reports suggested two people were entrapped, with at least one unconscious.

The spokesperson said the Forensic Crash Unit are on scene.
